The entrance of multinational brands like Fair & Glow (Fair & Lovely), Garnier, Ponds, and other regional players into the beauty cream segment by launching their product line extension, even few with the same proposition, promise, product offerings, specifications and packaging format openly challenges the market leader Golden Pearl Beauty Cream.
Golden Pearl Cosmetics required an Inspiring Brand Culture of its own to create a substantial differential from the competitor’s brands that strengthens Golden Pearl Beauty Cream’s leadership positioning, being the Number 1 Selling Multi-Billion Value Winning Brand.

Besides that, Golden Pearl Cosmetics also needs a perception re-shaping by uplifting their overall master brand identity, imagery & communications, enabling them to compete with the best considering their upcoming launches in skin and hair care, which multinational brands currently predominate.

In short, a need for powerful, aspiring, captivating storytelling that depicts the Brand Culture of its own to create inspiring brand imagery.

Starting from locations, art, props, stage design, styling, wardrobe, shooting schedule, sequence planning, lighting, camera angles & movements, etc.

Overall spending more than three weeks to get it done with complete perfection as time spent in pre-pro, considering the film’s realization needed much detail and precision.

We partnered with the world’s best Bollywood celebrity choreographer, Feroze Khan & Team choreographed the entire Glamourama music film & ad film.

Along with world renowned choreographer, cinematographer, we engaged International acclaimed DanceQueen group to enthral the set with vibrance and energy.

Every sequence & shot were delibrated well in advance so that the entire shooting would be done smoothly with a glamorous choreographic style and mood all the way. The signature expression, dance steps & moves, stylised walk, product application shots, and other gestures of the celebrity star were to depict her powerful performance & beauty. MAKE UP & STYLING

As always, fantastic skin is vital; that’s why her complexion appeared flawless, healthy, and soft, with warm skin tones but not heavy. Eye contour mascara adds presence to the eyes and lipstick. Well-balanced – did not overtake the hair.

The major challenge was how to handle the transformation of celebrity looks & makeovers from Greek goddess to Bollywood star that compliments the styling, glamour & beauty.

MI Films collaborated with Glam Lead Fashion and Celebrity Makeup artist Rebecca Doney from the UK. Rebecca has been a professional make-up and hair artist for over 15 years and began her career assisting Gucci Westman, Hannah Murry, Miranda Joyce, Anita Keeling. Rebecca has traveled internationally around the world with a big career in Bollywood working with some A-list celebrities such as llenan D’Cruz, Anushka Sharma, Shraddha Kapoor, Jacqueline Fernandez, John Abraham, Kangana Ranaut., to name a few.

DRESS FOR SUCCESS | STYLE GURUS

The celebrity style guru Salvi Chandrshekhar, famously notorious for his magic in Bajirao mastani, Bhootnath returns and many more. While Thai fashion king, elaborated on the western art of styling.

We created the transformation from Greek goddess to Eastern beauty glamor. Salvi and Pang collaborated to deliver the charisma of east and west fusion. Stunning dresses and alluring make up, flirting jewellery created the destined vanity in the production.

We have created a fantastic evening dress made out of light floating fabric to make our heroine looks absolutely stunning. A wind machine at the set was used to give Elnaaz that stylized greek goddess looks with White Flowing Gown, and the long tail Burgundy Dress looks even more impressive as it flows and billows around her with every step and as she nimbly leaps into the air.

LOCATIONS & SET DESIGNS

The Director & film production team had scouted the locations that have given the perfect backgrounds once we started capturing the journey sequence of beauty from West to East.

From the beauty of nature, castle, art & cultural building, stylized bedroom set & furniture, and Bollywood style performance stage set looks convincing and glamorous and provide a stylish backdrop to integrate the action organically into the environment with a touch of gold.

We got the details right through world-class art direction and meticulous planning.

TWO DAYS REHEARSAL

We had three full days of rehearsal before the shoot to make everything perfect, once capturing the journey of beauty from west to east, from model expressions stylized & choreographic movements walking & dancing beside wardrobe trail and makeover demo of key looks & style.

To achieve the desired signature expressions and choreographic dance movements and stylize walking with the glamorous-looking shots and performance, the director & choreographer have conducted three full days of rehearsal sessions with the celebrity star and models from Dance Queen Group before the shoot.

During the rehearsal, the director also made the fashion designers & makeup artists give a demo of multiple looks & styling of the celebrity star to showcase the journey & transformation of the beautiful goddess from the west to the east goddess of Bollywood celebrity film star, to ensure the perfect styling & looks.

SOUND

Audio is vital to creating the right emotional mood and tone. Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan is truly a voice of God as he chants “praising of beauty is not possible” in Urdu, taken from a song. As a Qawwali and Sufi music pioneer, he introduced this genre to the western world and is still recognized as one of the most powerful voices in the music industry, which is why he is popularly known as the ‘King of Qawwali”.

Pakistani pop is a mixture of traditional Pakistani classical music and Western jazz and rock influences. So that’s why we have shown the model’s journey from a western to an eastern look … a fusion like Nusrat Fateh Ali’s musical composition. The audio design would help amplify the impact and fluidity and add additional textural layering to the visuality. The right ambient SFX punctuation is critical to the believability of the narrative and underpins Elnaaz Norouzi’s dialogue with the camera and the announcer voiceover.

LIGHT/CAMERA & EDITING

The whole feel was polished realism … a beautiful woman refusing to let anyone define her. The light would be ‘real’ and ‘beauty’ simultaneously. Not fake or plastic. Contrasts and shadows would have created intimacy.

The light on the face & hair would remain gorgeous all the way through. As we have gone for a more formal beauty set-up, the look would have a touch more theatrical. Technically, we used different focal lengths and angles to create a highly cinematic look and feel.

Telling the story needs a rich signature cinematic language steeped in storytelling. The editing has been done with rich, sharp, and intelligence like some slow-paced cinematic & beautiful music video clips. Instead, it was a filmic study of life. We wanted her confident personality and glamour to shine through.

PREMIUM CINEMATIC CHIC

Visually, the film was an eclectic mix of high-end beauty and a premium blockbuster. It had a strong beauty appeal running throughout, but it also has a music video look and feels – high energy and high production value.

Every single frame was unique, visually and emotionally, perfectly planned and executed. We have looked for the best angles, lenses, and perspectives for each shot. My priority was always to capture every beautiful detail, from the celebrity fabulous to the gleaming textures of her dress.

Lighting was vital to making Elnaaz look even more stunning. Her skin looked immaculate, perfectly smooth, radiant & beautiful.

To amplify the cinematic feel of our Glamaourama film, we have taken visuals from atmospheric wides of the grand locations & nature, stunning villa vista, cultural architecture, classical stairs, traditional corridors, and Bollywood style film sets. We have blended all these with intense storytelling mediums and intimate close-ups.

Elnaaz’s beautiful, strong eyes, the blades reflected light, her stunning dress shifting and changing shape with her movements. We had up the cinematic ante further by playing with camera speed, dropping in some slow-motion moments into the real-time footage to add greater dynamism.

One of our portfolio work in automotive category, loved the Journey of directing and producing imagery TVC for General Tyre, fantastic storytelling to own the journey of young achiever by the agency, crafted it exquisitely and the best.

It really an amazing experience of working with European creative agency & their team on GTR project, right from the briefing session where their culture strategy & creative team has taken us through the entire journey of creating meaningful brand purpose and translating it into storytelling to built a culture of achiever around the GTR.

The music was composed internationally with a sound designer who have been working on leading automotive brands and have the expertise to blend the sound effects of car journey with built up modern upbeat music keeping the mood of the film as it constantly transits from multiple scenes during the car journey.

It was a great working experience with passionate creative team of Ogilvy, Business Director, Zeban Syed, Creative Director Ali Mirza and Account Director Ayesha Zafar who have crafted this amazing storytelling and have worked very closely with us along-with the visionary marketing team of Nestle, Gibran Ahmed & Shoaib Asim to translated this powerful storytelling in to a story that people love through the magic of film.

Nestle Fruita Vitals is a range of premium Juices and Nectars from Nestle. Nestle Fruita Vitals is prepared by using the finest fruit carefully chosen from the gardens of the world and processed under Nestle’s stringent quality standards.

Conceptualized by Ogilvy, the film production team shot the 2 min spot in Thailand.  Highlighting four delicious flavors – Mangos from Pakistan, Pineapple From Indonesia, Grapes From Italy and Apples from Greece – these convenient, single-serve juice boxes were shown to package and deliver only the most fruity, delicious and refreshing taste from all over the world and a nutritional value people can feel good about serving.

It was a exciting project with lot of learnings while working with world’s best film & table top director Avi Karpick, specially once it come to film making, his expertise & rich experience clearly depict his magical direction, right from defining the treatment & mood of the film to the shooting days.

Capturing cinematic shots of landscape, orchard, fields, farms & vineyard and people of Greece, Indonesia, Italy & Pakistan, sweeping shots of settings and environment with glimpses of faces, shots of famous landmarks, interactions with the orchards and ripe fruit and playing with sun flares & reflections to give an artistic feel and transition shot with water to create a dreamy sequence.

Once it’s come to beauty shots, high speed fruits & juices splashes colliding, diving & gliding shots which have really created the wow factor.

In short Avi Karpick rightly believed this was not a story that needs to be developed and told, but a beautiful, inspiring combinations of fleeting impressions to portray the various countries in atmospheric and inspiration way, almost poetic in nature and the truly derived it accordingly.

Mouni Roy, (Aka Nagaan) a famous celebrity, Film & TV Star, seems fit for the role of endorsing the brand by revealing her secret how to keep on enjoying, sunshine, beauty & nature with strong depiction of aspiring socialite and modern lifestyle with the blend of nature & beauty that have given Golden Pearl Antibacterial Whitening Soap a clean, fresh, glorious feel that created its unique proposition of beauty with complete protection & care.

Film Direction always turn out be be an amazing experience once you’re working with expressive & charming celebrity like Mouni Roy by creating imagery via nature-oriented landscapes and picturesque settings of Thailand with our passionate & unstoppable film production team.

I effectively capture the brand’s masterful and socialite personality through my skillful lens. Each of the imagery (whether the natural beauty of the outdoors or the softness and warmth of the home promising the protection from the harshness outside) tells a story about walking on and staying protected, free from the harmful effects of dust or any form of pollution.

The film was shot in a modern lavish house which later moves to an open landscape canvassed with beautiful greenery and a lake. Our multi-cultural team and crew aided in the shoot and the selection of the locales.

The establishing shots depict a working woman coming home frustrated with the grime, dust and sun damaging her skin. The application shots clearly befit the product story we had aimed to establish. We show how applying the Anti-Bacterial Soap leaves skin protected, moisturized and fresh.

Wardrobe, lighting, styling, make-up, props and the art direction was carefully crafted to exhibit the brand purpose and creative imagery.

The climax shots of the car and the breathtaking view of nature’s backdrop acted as a catalyst to effectuate the communication message “Stay protected, stay beautiful”.

Our multicultural film productions team of high skill creative & imagery resources from EUROPE, MENA & ASIA PACIFIC worked with us. In order to retain the richness in the colors of the film, we even had one of the best color grading team to work on our TVC. The film has been edited in a way that captures every essence of the TVC.

The music was composed internationally with a sound designer. The initial part of the music is dreary keeping the mood of the film in perspective transitioning to a louder more upbeat sound by adding a mix of different instruments as the film transits from the indoor scene to its outdoor luscious landscape.

Another milestone project i did as imagery producer where i have involved in each & every step to translate this powerful storytelling into exciting brand story though magic of film.

Completely revamping the imagery of HILAL FRESH UP “LIFE MEIN FRESHNESS AANAY DO”, by introducing the Culture of Freshness featuring Film & TV Star MEHWISH HAYAAT & Dance Queen Performing Group beside other leading models.

Overall theme was built up on innovative stomp music first time introduced in Pakistan, college’s ‘Fresh & Hip” crowd and dance whilst water was used to build up the visual identity of the splash which unleashes freshness when chewing Fresh Up in the target’s audiences.

Capturing the amazing performance of Mehwish Hayaat & Dance Group, her charms & expressions through out all sequence and how Mehwish turn the boring moments of campus into a lively moment by introducing the culture of Freshness through the perfect endorsement of Fresh Up.

PRODUCTION DESIGN
I have personally lead the production design considering the overall scope of the project where almost more than 150 talents were engaged to perform in the commercial with leading Film & TV Star Mehwish Hayaat, working for days & nights for almost a week time along with my multicultural film production team from art & props, styling, wardrobe, maker overs, art direction for various set ups & ambience creation in the campus, muscle cars, stunt team, DJ & music system, stomp music group performance & get ups and specially working with SFX & VFX team to create fountain & water splashes during the shoot.

VFX & SFX
Engaged our strategic alliance partner DM, Thailand to worked on VFX & Post Productions, which one of the best VFX & Animation House in Asia, working on world’s best brands and feature films and considering the overall execution & treatment of the film, I know DM do the magic and they did.

SOUND DESIGN
This was the first time, we experimenting with Stomp Music in Pakistan, so i get it done from international sound designer Vikram Singh to compose the exciting sound track, while get the vocal done by famous singer Akasa Singh and it’s turn out to be one of the best jingle composed by Vikram Singh for us.

CHOREOGRAPHY & DANCE REHEARSAL
A week rehearsal in Thailand with Film Star Mehwish Hayaar, Leena Jumani, Farah Hussian, Sarang, Neeraj, Pooja Bisht & Dance Group Bangkok has been done on specially design choreographic dance & steps gave us flawless execution once it come to shooting days.

Great teamwork & special thanks to entire film productions team, who really put their heart & soul with me to produce inspiring imagery of Fresh Up.

ACHIEVING THE UNACHIEVED

Our global and regional teams, under the leadership of our creative leader, strategic culture branding narrator & filmmaker, Ehmer Kirmani, who always believed in achieving the unachieved through passion, creativity, and teamwork, worked on this exciting project.

Our Marcom Network team worked closely with the client’s management & marketing team, consultants and strategic alliance partners on the Rebirth of the 55-year-old iconic global brand General Tyre into GTR.



“BOLE DIL KE BOLIAN” a nod to the role that food plays in the Pakistani Consumer’s life !

This was the imagery we wanted to capture for the client – Shama Cooking Oil, a brand of IMGC. The concept was ideated by Starcrest Communications. The concept required a traditional family based setting, a young couple setting and a nuclear modern day family. Each required their own interesting imagery. This shoot was a great culmination of many elements.

How could we go wrong? Beautiful talent, artistic sets, stylish wardrobe, classic props, warm lighting, beautiful camera work, brilliantly captured high speed food shots by Phantom and all sum up to inspiring imagery with captivating story, which I always love to do in every film.

The Loving Relationship

A challenging project where we had to create an emotive appeal in storytelling by showcasing the relationship between mother & daughter & their bond with brand Young’s Mayonnaise while considering its shariah compliance advertising where we had the limitations of not showing any models or using any jingle or music in the commercials and above all it’s first ever 360o Marketing/Advertising Campaign where brand aiming to create their inspiring imagery at par with international brand being the No.1 Selling Multi Billion Value Winning Brand.
We created Young’s Mayonnaise brand purpose “Enhancing the Taste of Love” by deriving it’s brand culture “Nurturing Relationship” and crafting the capitative storytelling of mother & daughter relationship by picking the moment from their life where both were working together in the kitchen.

Being today’s girl whenever daughter work in kitchen she consider herself as a master chef by taking inspirations from cooking shows & online recipes while keep experimenting new recipes with the fusion of her creativity while taking guidance from mother.

On the other hand mother always taken the pride of her expertise & experience being the home maker and once mother daughter skills combines together they have prepared amazing new tasty dishes where Young’s Mayonnaise being their favourite taster partner enhance not only the taste of dishes but their love & bond with each other & the entire family and summing up the entire communication with brand capsule.

Golden Pearl Moisturizing Lotion wanted a sleek and stylish commercial to showcase a inspiring youthful imagery of the brand at par with international brands such as Vaseline, Dove, Nivea, Ponds.

Creative agency positioned Golden Pearl as ‘Producers of Good Mornings’ and such was communicated in the storytelling brilliantly as “Good Morning Sunshine, Good Morning Happiness” and the communication was built on depicting the ‘girl next door’.

The previous Golden Pearl Beauty Cream TV Commercial, which I did couple of years back by capturing the beautiful storytelling & creating the inspiring imagery around socialite culture was a huge success and transformed it to No.1 Beauty Brand in it’s category and hence the same magic was required for the launch TVC of it’s Lotion with its ’Skin That Feels Good” and the communication was built on depicting the “girl next door”.

The commercial was set in the picturesque backdrop, emphasizing on its serenity, its colorful ambience and backgrounds which was the main requirement for the shoot as the commercial signified the beauty of “Golden Pearl” girl who uses the Moisturizing Lotion after a shower and enters a world of beauty and grace which were all set into motion by the usage of subtle premium interiors, lighting, sophisticated costumes and graceful makeup which were all crucial for the success of our story telling process.

Pre rehearsals were arranged with the actress and DOP to ensure there were no stones unturned when it came to choreographing for the shot. The throw of the pillow, the feeling of happiness of the shower, the aspirational outdoor usage shots and the capturing of elation of the famous TV drama actress Nikita Dutta, all highlighted the “Producers of Happiness” concept and the ’Skin That Feels Good’ was shown in the product and usage shots.

The contemporary and hip music jingle was composed which added the “Happiness” tangent into the ad, livening up the ad till the end with energy and oomph factor.
